Principal's Message
Dear Families,
Trimester 2 is coming to an end and teachers are working hard to assess students and write thoughtful comments for progress reports, which will be sent home with your child on Wednesday, March 18th.
Baffling Science Assembly
Students were left amazed and inspired after attending the exciting “Baffling Science” assembly this week. The interactive show combined eye-popping magic tricks with scientific experiments. Volunteers participated in astonishing tricks that seemed impossible at first glance. After the tricks, students helped uncover the scientific principles that made the “magic” happen. Students saw how forces, energy, perception and other scientific concepts can create effects that look magical until you understand the science behind them. The assembly was a great blend of fun and learning. I would like to thank the PTA for bringing this assembly to Strawberry Point.
STEAM Fair
Our annual STEAM Fair will take place from 5pm-7pm in the MPR on Wednesday, March 18th. Click here to register your student’s project. We are looking forward to a good turnout!
Plastic Film Recycling Drive for Earth Week!
This spring, Strawberry Point is keeping plastic film out of landfills with Ridwell! To participate in this limited-time recycling drive and celebrate Earth Week, please bring plastic film (ziptop bags, grocery bags, bubble wrap, and lots more) to school on April 20th through April 24th and Ridwell will make sure it stays out of landfills. It’ll be turned into new decking materials instead! Start collecting plastic film at home now so you have a contribution for the drive!
Curious about recycling more at home, like we do at our school? Visit our exciting new Strawberry Point Ridwell Page to learn more about Ridwell! You can help the school earn plastic-film pickups for the entire ‘26/’27 school year if 10 new members join Ridwell Pickups or Mail-in through our school’s webpage by May 22!
Together, we can make a real impact. By starting to save your plastic film now, you’ll help ensure our Earth Week drive is a success!
Student Council Supports Our Local Community
Our Student Council recently teamed up with Children for Change to make a meaningful impact in our local community. Together, students prepared 50 sack lunches, which were donated to St. Vincent de Paul in San Rafael.
Students worked collaboratively to assemble the lunches. The project gave students a hands-on opportunity to practice leadership, teamwork and compassion while learning about the importance of helping others in our community.
Through this service effort, Student Council members demonstrated how small acts of kindness can make a big difference. Their dedication to service shows that our students are not only leaders in school, but also caring members of the wider community.
Spring Village Fest
Our big district-wide event is coming up next week! Spring Village Fest is on Wednesday, March 11 (5–7pm, quiet hour 4–5pm)! Hosted by the Mill Valley PTA DEI and It Takes a Village (it's their 20 year anniversary!!), this is a free evening for families to come together, enjoy crafts, games, music, therapy dogs, the bubble lady, pizza (FREE slices for kids!), FREE cupcakes and more - while learning about neurodiversity and disabilities. This is the second big DEI event of the year, and promises to be both meaningful and fun. You can RSVP Here and consider Volunteering Here. Hope to see you there!
All School Read
We had a great turnout at All School Read this morning. Thank you to everyone who joined and helped make it such a special time for our students!
Sincerely,
Kimberley

Board Budget Study Session
On Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., the Board will hold a Budget Workshop in the Middle School Library. The agenda for the meeting is attached. During the workshop, the Board will review the district’s current financial status and discuss the assumptions that will guide the development and adoption of the 2026–2027 budget, as well as the district’s multi-year financial projections.
Members of the Budget Advisory Committee, MVTA, CSEA, Kiddo!, PTA, and the Parcel Tax Committee have been invited to participate in table discussions with Trustees during the workshop. Audience members will also have an opportunity to provide feedback using note cards.
In April, Assistant Superintendent Paula Rigney and I will visit campuses again to provide parents with updates and an opportunity to ask questions.
Spring Village Fest
I would also like to highlight the Spring Village Fest, sponsored by our PTA DEI Committee, on March 11 from 4:00–7:00 p.m. at the Mill Valley Community Center. In recognition of Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, this gathering is designed to provide families with a welcoming space to learn more about neurodiversity and disabilities while connecting with community organizations and local resources.
To help ensure the event is accessible and comfortable for all, a Quiet Hour will be held from 4:00–5:00 p.m., featuring limited amplified sound and a smaller, more relaxed environment. Activities throughout the evening will include therapy dogs, arts and crafts, sensory exploration opportunities, outdoor games, music and movement, and informational tables.
The event will also recognize the 20th anniversary of It Takes a Village (ITAV), Mill Valley’s special education PTA. Janet Miller, founder of It Takes a Village and former MVSD School Board Trustee, will join the community in marking this meaningful milestone.
Opportunities such as this reflect our community’s ongoing commitment to awareness, inclusion, and fostering a strong sense of belonging for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.
