The school day runs from 8:15am to 2:35pm every day except on Wednesday. Wednesday is an early dismissal for the whole school. Your child will be dismissed at 1:45pm every Wednesday.
TK Start and End Time: TK will have a soft start and pickup. TK students can arrive between 8:15am-8:30am and dismissal will be 2:20pm-2:35pm. We will also have yard supervision from 7:45am in the morning and until 2:45pm in the afternoon.
-
Yard supervisor is available on the main playground and TK/K playground from 7:45am. Children may play outside on the playground until the first bell at 8:10am. At 8:10am, students line up outside their classroom and are greeted by their teacher.
Kindergarten and TK only
A caregiver or other authorized party must meet their child for pick up at the TK and kindergarten classroom. Teachers will dismiss children when they see a caregiver or authorized adult. If your child is enrolled in an enrichment class, an authorized representative will pick them up at the gates and take them to the activity.
Families may park in the school parking lot, but not in spaces marked “Staff”, and NOT in the LOADING/UNLOADING ZONE, along the yellow curb. Please ensure that anyone who drops off or picks up your child is aware of these guidelines.
Traffic safety is a priority at Strawberry Point School. Please refer to the school’s Traffic and Parking Guidelines prior to the start of school. SAFETY is paramount, so please be a good example for your children.
-
Both the Mill Valley Parks and Recreation department and Strawberry Recreation run after school enrichment programs. They offer a wide variety of classes and activities, some for all ages and some specifically for TK/Kindergartners. There are four sessions during the school year and fees for these programs vary. For more information visit:
- Mill Valley Recreation Center or call (415) 383-1370
- Strawberry Recreation Center or call (415) 383-6494
-
If your child will not be attending school, you must notify the school office at (415) 389-7660, ext. 2 by 9:00 am. If your child is enrolled in an aftercare program, they should also be notified.
We ask families to limit trips during the school year and not to take children out of school for reasons other than illness or emergencies.
-
If you know that you will arrive late to school or need to leave early, please let the teacher and the school office know.
If you are arriving after school has started at 8:15 a.m., sign your child in at the school office to receive a green ‘tardy slip’ for their teacher.
If your child must leave school at times other than regular dismissal, please send a note to the teacher explaining the reason, the time, and who will pick them up. Children must be signed out in the office when leaving before the end of their school day. When you arrive to pick up your child, go to the office. Do not go directly to the classroom
-
Please drop off items at the office. They will be delivered to your child in a timely and unobtrusive manner.
-
Please remember to label every single item your child brings to school (jackets, hats, water bottles, lunch boxes, etc.).
Lost items are placed on a rack located near the office before and after school. Unclaimed items are donated to charities multiple times throughout the year, so check the Lost and Found frequently for any missing personal items.
-
Your child has two options for lunch:
- Bring a lunch
- Sign up for the School District lunch program
Lunches from home should contain items that your child can open independently and serve themselves. Please consider the environment and minimize waste packaging. Also, please send your child with reusable utensils
-
No, the school district will provide all school materials and supplies.
-
To receive all school communication, please sign up for an account in ParentSquare. You will receive an invitation email/text or you can sign up on ParentSquare or via the ParentSquare app.
Teacher Communication - You will receive a regular newsletter from your teacher. Your teacher will communicate specific information related to your child’s classroom.
Principal’s Message - Mrs. Russell will share information with the whole school community weekly.
PTA Newsletter “What’s Up” - The PTA sends a newsletter twice a month informing all families of school and district news, and of upcoming events.
Back-to-School Night - We are looking forward to seeing you on Thursday evening, September 4! This is an adult-only event. Your child’s teacher will talk about grade-level curriculum and instruction, classroom procedures, volunteer opportunities and much more. You will also have the opportunity to hear from Principal Russell and the PTA.
-
For day to day communications you can leave the teacher a phone message or send them an email, which will be picked up after the teaching day.
If it’s an emergency, call the school office. Since teachers need to attend to all of their students, please be aware that mornings and dismissal are not appropriate times to discuss your child’s progress.
There are parent-teacher conferences in the fall, and teachers are available to make an appointment to discuss your child’s progress.

There are opportunities to volunteer in your child’s classroom. Teachers will request parent volunteers via ParentSquare.
All visitors are expected to check in with the school office and obtain a visitor’s pass before proceeding to their child’s classroom. Volunteers must also sign a Classroom Volunteer contract prior to volunteering in a classroom. We greatly appreciate parents who are able to donate their time to our school.
-
Each class is assigned three weeks of traffic duty. All families MUST sign up for three traffic duty shifts during their allocated weeks - it is paramount that we keep our parking lot safe!
There are also opportunities to serve the entire school by getting involved in PTA-sponsored activities and events, which include the Book Fair, STEAM Fair, MAD Dash, Variety Show, etc. We would love to see you at these and other community events where you will have the opportunity to get to know other families, and be part of the school community! Please also join us at monthly PTA meetings to hear more about what is going on at school.
You will receive more information about schoolwide volunteer opportunities in the fall. In the meantime, if interested, you may contact the PTA President, Jasmine Bean, at president@strawberrypta.org.

We are fortunate to have two distinct organizations, Kiddo! and the Strawberry Point PTA, that supports our school and our district.
PTA
The Strawberry Point Teachers Association specifically supports our school. Through volunteer activities and financial contributions, the PTA enriches the experience of all students, supports teachers and promotes parent education. Attending PTA meetings is a great way to get to know our school and meet other parents. We welcome new faces and new ideas!
We welcome all contributions, and our goal is 100% participation by our school community.
Kiddo!
Kiddo! is the Mill Valley Schools Community Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports our entire school district. Kiddo! is made up of parents, teachers, businesses and active members of our community who, since 1982, have raised tens of millions of dollars to supplement our school budgets. Kiddo! funds vital programs and teachers at our five elementary schools and middle school - including art, music, drama, dance, poetry and teachers grants.
Each spring, Kiddo! launches an annual campaign to raise funds for the upcoming school year to protect the quality educational programs in the district.
